Note from Doug: Of all of the company’s educational and artistic programs, I am most proud of this annual workshop that we began in 2000 as a way to share our creative, movement and artistic philosophies. Since its inception, our workshops and intensives have attracted students from all over the globe, creating safe havens that support each dancer’s individuality, allowing each student the chance to explore new territory. I can’t think of anything more important now as we all, regardless of where we are in the field, are finding our way back with new passion. For three weeks, we’ll live together, work together, grow together and create together on Purchase’s beautiful campus. I believe that this workshop is a wonderful opportunity for students to build upon the dance foundation they’ve been given in a full and focused way. Work Study scholarships are available to help defray costs.

WINTER PROGRAMS
The program is designed to build a supportive community, expose students to new and challenging ideas and movement styles, and share tools for building a sustainable career in the performing arts.
Our NYC Winter Intensive gives dancers tools that deepen their creative practice. Each day begins with a technique class taught by David and the Company. The day continues with workshops which explore David’s trademark style of merging highly athletic physicality with theatrically-based text exploration. Daily choreography labs explore the creation of personal movement and evenings are opportunities to watch the Company in Open Rehearsal.
DAVID DORFMAN DANCE- WINTER INTENSIVE
Unique to David Dorfman Dance is an active workshop-long conversation about Kinetic Diplomacy: the idea that if you’re dancing, you’re probably not hurting another human being. The work builds toward an end-of-workshop showing in which friends, family, and Company supporters are invited to attend.
DOUG VARONE AND DANCERS – WINTER INTENSIVE
“We are very excited to finally be back in the studios with everyone and share dance work that feels important and vital to us. The intensive will be six full days of technique, repertory and creative exploration in the wonderfully spacious studios of Hunter College. Beyond the classes, together we will build a beautiful sense of community that allows everyone to do their best work, exploring new facets of their dancing and artistry. Come join us again or for the first time. Can’t wait to see you all there.” -Doug Varone
PAUL TAYLOR- NEW YORK WINTER INTENSIVE
